Ventilation Practices

Intermediate Level

8 Hours

The following assignments have been completed by the student and was evaluated by an instructor certified by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection or an approved individual or instructor under State Firemen’s and Fire Marshals’ Association standards:

q 8-02.01 The firefighter shall demonstrate the use of different types of power saws and jack hammers

q 8-02.02 The firefighter shall identify the different types of roofs, demonstrate the techniques used to ventilate each type, and identify the necessary precautions

q 8-02.03 The firefighter shall identify the size and location of an opening for ventilation, and the precautions to be taken during ventilation

q 8-02.04 The firefighter shall demonstrate the removal of skylights, scuttle covers, and other covers on rooftops

q 8-02.05 The firefighter shall demonstrate the types of equipment used for forced mechanical ventilation

NOTE: There is one (1) SFFMA Intermediate required skill associated with this section which must be completed and the SFFMA required skill sheets filled out properly for successful completion of this section
