Salvage and Overhaul

Intermediate Level

6 Hours

The following assignments have been completed by the student and was evaluated by an instructor certified by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection or an approved individual or instructor under State Firemen’s and Fire Marshals’ Association standards:

q 5-02.01 The firefighter, given salvage equipment, operating as an individual and as a member of a team, shall demonstrate the construction and use of a water chute and a water catchall

q 5-02.02 The firefighter, given salvage equipment except salvage covers, shall demonstrate the removal of debris, and removal and routing of water from a structure

q 5-02.03 The firefighter shall demonstrate the covering or closing of openings made during fire fighting operations

q 5-02.04 The firefighter shall list the procedures to follow during overhaul

q 5-02.05 The firefighter shall identify the safety precautions necessary during overhaul

NOTE: There are four (4) SFFMA Intermediate required skills associated with this section which must be completed and the SFFMA required skill sheets filled out properly for successful completion of this section
