Ropes

Intermediate Level

6 Hours

 

The following assignments have been completed by the student and was evaluated by an instructor certified by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection or an approved individual or instructor under State Firemen’s and Fire Marshals’ Association standards:

 

q     28-02.01  The firefighter, given the proper rope, shall demonstrate the bight, loop, round turn, and half hitch as used in tying knots and hitches

q   28-02.02  The firefighter, using an approved knot, shall hoist any selected forcible entry tool, ground ladder, or appliance to a height of at least 20feet:

§  A 1 ½” or 1 ¾” dry hose with nozzle attached

§  A 2 ½” or 3” dry hose with nozzle attached

§  A 1 ½” or 1 ¾” charged hose

§  An axe

§  A 6’ or 8’ pike pole

§  A single 14’ or 16’ wall ladder

§  A 10’ collapsible ladder

§  A 14’ combination ladder

§  Working as a member of a team, a 24’ extension ladder

§  A 15# CO2 fire extinguisher

§  A 20# dry chemical fire extinguisher

§  An electric smoke ejector

§  A pair of bolt cutters

q   28-02.03  The firefighter shall demonstrate the technique of inspection, cleaning, maintaining, storage, safety procedures, and reasons for placing a rope out of service

 

NOTE:  There is four (4) SFFMA Intermediate required skills associated with this section which must be completed and the SFFMA required skill sheets filled out properly for successful completion of this section
